On May 22-23, 2013 world leaders, politicians, expets and energy scholars will meet in Kazakhstan’s capital to discuss topical social, economic and financial issues and seek joint solutions.
This year, two panel sessions on the complex issues related to alternative energy will be organized in the framework of VI Astana Economic Forum (AEF). The event is organized by the JSC “National Company Astana EXPO-2017”, KAZENERGY Association and “Eurasian Economic Club of Scientists” Association.
The following experts are invited to participate at the EXPO-2017 session: Mr. Nurlan Kapparov, Minister of Environment of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chairman of a Board Directors of the JSC “NC Astana EXPO-2017”, Dr. Jose Cordeiro, Chair of Venezuela Node of the Millennium Project; Dr. Siddharth Saxena, Chairperson of the Cambridge Central Asia Forum, Director of the Cambridge Kazakhstan Centre and Honorary Secretary of the Committee for Central and Inner Asia; Mr. Aset Magauov, CEO, KAZENERGY Association.
The moderator of the session is Dr. Jeffrey Ball, Center for Energy Policy and Finance of the Stanford University.
The session will provide a platform for interactive discussion and dialogue.
During the debates participants will discuss challenges and opportunities arising from a transition towards a sustainable energy future, availability of infrastructure for a Third Industrial Revolution, environmental aspects of renewable energy sources, particularly effects on human beings and society. Transition towards a green economy will be discussed as well.
Addressing the participants, Mr. Talgat Yermegiyayev, CEO of the JSC “NC Astana EXPO-2017” outlined that “Future Energy discussion is relevant for Kazakhstan”. He said that “We are discussing the prospects and challenges of alternative energy within the Astana Economic Forum not for the first time. Future Energy is becoming more attractive for both Kazakhstan and international community”.
“In 2017 Astana will host “EXPO-2017: Future Energy” to think about the future of energy, and also about the energy of the future. The time has come for the world to move from fossil fuels to renewable fuels, and EXPO-2017 will offer a window into that alternative future with new opportunities”- anticipating the outcome said Dr. Cordeiro, one of the speakers.
On November 22, 2012 Astana was chosen by the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) as the venue for the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO-2017. According to preliminary estimates exhibition will gather together more than 100 participating states and 10 international organizations. Around 2-3 million people will visit the international pavilions from June to September 2017. The theme proposed by Kazakhstan to host the International Exhibition EXPO-2017 is “Future Energy”.
